From the 23rd of August till including the 24th of August an event for motorbike riders was held by Bike-Promotion und PS-Racecamp at the Nurburgring (big GP circuit). I was one of many competitors and I really enjoyed that event, although the weather conditions were anything but easy at the first day because it did not rain but poured!
With the third turn the track dried considerably and I could attach me behind others who knew the track layout better than me after I had warmed up the tyres.
With increasing drying also the lap times became faster and faster.
After it had poured again considerably, I decided this time to omit the last turn of the day over to use instead the tomorrow's day, because this promised substantially better conditions, at least according to statement of the weather service.
Thus I made myself again to remove the tape ribbon, to unfold the mirrors and to install the number plate again as well as ridden to the accommodation. There taken a shower, visited a restaurant and eaten. After I had seen the bed in the accommodation, I put to sleep myself, because I was simple groggy by the rain driving.
Rain riding is about factor 2 more arduously for me as riding in the dry.
On the next morning it continued - with a cool but sunny day!
In the course of the day it became steadily warmer and my lap times got better and better, so that I had to take my wet-sweated things off starting from the third turn on and only rode in the function underwear.
Since I became faster and faster, I permanently had to overtake what makes a terrific fun, though, also because all drivers have considerately dealed with each other.
At some point at the end of the start-finish line I have overstate the case and have missed my braking point at an overtake which was the reason that I have messed up a driver's line. With a wildly bucking tail I unfortunately get no corner... For me it went into the run-off area while he had only to ride a wider bend. Four corners later I was up his tail again, however, could overtake him only in the last bend before the start-finish line because he accelerated almost just as hard as me out of corners, but not in the said last corner.
I would like to express my warm thanks to the initiators of this meeting, who with know-how, tyres and drinks showed a brillinat performance as well as they were present all the time. My warms thanks flow to Rene Unger of RacePixx (www.racepixx.de), who provided these photos.
